CURRY BEAR

Does any of the following apply to you:

If more than 2 of these apply to you, congratulations! You might be interesting in what Curry Bear is talking about. And that of course is Garden State Garba 2007. If the music from the website is any indication, Garba music has evolved quite a bit and actually sounds good. It is no longer your Uncle & Masi’s slow, Garba music. Yes, Curry Bear is not ashamed to say it – he has started to like this new, upbeat Garba rhythm. This year, the following college teams will be performing:

1. Columbia University RAAS (what does Raas really mean? one of life’s unsolved mysteries)
2. Drexel University DANDIYA (One time at band camp, I took a dandiya…)
3. John Hopkins University RAGE (Dandiya sticks and rage….not a good combo)
4. Michigan State University WIZARD OF RAAS (some say Curry Bear had sex with Dorothy Gayle)
5. New York University RAAS MALAI (aah NYU, when parents pay too much for a brand name)
6. Penn State University GHAAMUDIYAS (wtf is a Ghaamudiya?)
7. Rutgers University RAGA (Isn’t that the store where you buy music cds?)
8. Stanford University BASMATI RAAS (I ate this team for dinner last night)
9. University of Illinois DANGERAAS (oooh this name is so scurrry…do you guys still say ’scurry’ or is that so 2004?)
10. University of Maryland ENTOURAAS (Is Vincent Chase on this team?)
11. Virgina Tech DHAMAAL (Curry Bear’s favorite team…NOT)
12. Washington University RAAS (look at #1 again)

Curry Bear will be attending this event as well as the after party. He may write a review – if he doesn’t get diarrhea from eating Chicken N Rice. In either case, he will not miss the after party. Here’s some info for you guys if you’re interested:

I hope Garba competitions become as big as Bhangra competitions. With all the dandiya sticks and people running into each other, there is bound to be an accident. Let’s hope someone loses an eyeball, like Curry Bear did. The last great Garba performance C-Bear saw was at Best of the Best 2006 where Toys’R RAAS took the #1 prize. If you plan on attending this event (or part of the team performing), do tell C-Bear about it.
