If you were a good kid, Mommy & Daddy probably gave you a SNES or Sega Genesis as a kid. And if you were a cool kid, you should have had a Street Fighter game in your stash. Even poor kids had access to Street Fighter at the arcade. The great thing about Street Fighter was that it included an Indian guy as a character – Dhalsim.

Though his powers were stereotypically Yoga fire/flame, he also had the ability to stretch his arms and legs to punch opponents from a distance. In fact, people who liked to take cheap shots at opponents used Dhalsim. They’d throw a “Yoga fire” to counter-attack Ryu’s “Ha-Do-Ken” and then punch him from half-way across the screen. Street Fighter was the coolest fighting game until Mortal Kombat came along. However, Capcom has made over ten street fighter games, most of which people lost interest in over time. They even tried to introduce new characters who were just like Ryu and Ken. It was like Saved By the Bell – The New Class. They were nothing like the original. Then there was Street Fighter the movie, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. Of course, the American version had to have Colonel Guile as the main character, instead of everybody’s favorite: Ryu and Ken. Finally, the cool people in Japan made Street Fighter 2: The Animated Movie, which really captured the Street Fighter characters and even had a naked Chun-Li. If you are still into Street Fighter (or stuck in 1994), Curry Bear recommends watching Street Fighter 2: The Animated Movie, Street Fighter Alpha and Street Fighter: The Animated Series. The animated series has nearly 25 episodes and each one rocks. In fact, Curry Bear watched the entire series the night before his Chem 121 final exam. True story.
