Hollywood Movies Copied by Bollywood

After writing yesterdays article about Bollywood being sued for coping a Hollywood movie, Curry Bear went back to his Indian DVD collection (located behind his old Playstation, pass the porn, and right next to his dil…ahem I mean his dil pickles). Curry Bear decided to go back and see how many Indian movies he can name that had a scene or plot stolen from a Hollywood movie. This is what I came up with (with a little help of course).

Hey Y’all..its been long… Well, that is a pretty intensive list and I’ve always wondered why Asian films in general are so formulaic in nature(Korean,Chinese,Indian,Japanese)
Do asians not value creativity as much as the westerners or is it just that there are too many cultural and social restrictions on them in asia? That I feel is the real question…
(I’ll stop my rhetoric now..I don’t particularly enjoy sitting in a lab till 11 pm to finish lab reports and needed an outlet. )

i think there is not a single movie made in bollywood which is not ripped off from hollywood or any other source. and if it is not a copy then it has to be a flop movie. not just movies but alot of songs and music is a direct lift from some hit from west.

Bolly fools.
All their movies are copied…..The only thing Indian man thinks of continuously, and I mean all the time is how to rip off, steal, and cheat others to their own benefit….this includes especially the producers and directors of bollywood movies

Hey DK,
Take it easy on us Indians…we are malnourished in childhood….don’t get all the minerals and vitamens in our diet….so naturally, our brains are weaker than others.
Everyone knows, only thing keeping India afloat is huge, cheap, labour force due to our uncontrollable abd growing population….
that’s it….we are good for nothing else, man.
So, please take it easy on us.

FYI…
“COPIED FROM” would not be a very gracious term to use - plenty of bollywood movies were just inspired from stories which had their hollywood versions already in the market. When u say “Sarkar” is copied from “Godfather”, u shud remember that the hollywood film is actually lifted from a book. And for heaven’s sake, it is bollywood which has the guts to mix inspirations with originality, so stop whining and instead try to appreciate the excellent effort of the filmmakers, even those who “copy”.

Hollywood does not copy any movie from other languages because they just speak “ENGLISH” and know ONLY “ENGLISH”.
But in India, we speak Hindi, English, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi…blah blah…so we copy from english to hindi…hindi to tamil…bengali to telugu….marathi to hindi…english to tamil….tamil to telugu…..this sucks….i hate it over here in India…its a load of bull shit.

i m no bollywood fan n i havent seen any, but i ve watch horror movies from all the world esp asian horrors. so if any bolly comes up wit horror i scorn for the original..n i know asian movies (chinese/korean/japanese) movies r harder to b noticed whereas hollywood one can spot in a min. so bollywood watch out when u make a horror movie haha.

Naina-The eye (Hong Kong movie). This was frame by frame n the producer denied it..wat a crap!

i dunno the name of this bolly movie but its horror n the poster has this girl on a window. the poster was ripped from the japanese horror movie “rofuto” but i dunno bout the movie coz i didnt bother watchin.

My advice to bollywood producers, wanna ripped off a movie??? Atleast have the courtesy to acknowledge the original like Hollywood does.

its not that only bollywood copies..hollywood does so too.a lota hollyh movies are copied from japanese or korean flicks..the ring??..and morover i think most of holly movies are based on books.or remakes .so when it comes to creativity, then hollywood crew is not good either. and as said bollywood makes over 800 movies a year.not all are copied.some very good movies go unnoticed.and one more thing almost 75% of above mentioned movies flopped.so it is not that indian viewers are fool or something who cant make judgements.and as i see even all of the above mentioned movies are not a copy..some are,but others are inspired. what do they show in movies? that content is comman..
sometimes its just copied unknowingly..i don`t deny plagiarism in bollywood.it is there..but its not limited to bollywood.

Guys,
I hope you all know what money is minted in days..DON collects 90 crores of a remake. Love aaj kal copy of Thai movie makes 75 crores net profit in 10 days. Guys no business like show business unfortunately only few people are enjoying it. No matter how growing or developing country we are, there is lot of money from labor, loser to job going to multiplex goers. Diwali Main aur Mrs Khanna look like mere 3 crore films mints 12 crores. Though we know the original material, but as long as people watch it its hafty business…today its Akshay Kumar tomorrow it will be his son. While we will only pay EMIs for childs education.. not against but show biz is only for smart headed copycats.

SASH

Baadshah was not just a copy of Nick of Time, it was also using parts of the movies If Looks Could Kill and Rush Hour. Formula for new movie ideas = Study and modify scripts of various movies and Mix & Match.
The list in this site is just the tip of the iceberg. But I would like to remind all of you reading this that it is not the fact that Bollywood copies that is the issue. The issue is Bollywood does not credit, in any form, the source of the story or concept used. When you quote the source it becomes “Inspiration” and when you do not, it becomes “Plagiarism”.
Plagiarism is the worst crime there is!!
20th Century Fox recently served a legal notice for the blatant copy of the movie My Cousin Vinny into the movie Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai, to the tune of 7 crores. Imagine all the hollywood studios doing it, Bollywood (all studios) will go bankrupt in a day. I am still only talking of movies and I do not even wish to go close to the music scene.
I refuse to believe that in a country with a population of 1.2 billion, there are not enough smart minds to come up with something novel (Well we do have a few, but not enough it seems). And please, we as a country are not isolated from the rest of the world. People notice and notice well. My suggestion and request for everyone reading this - please use your own thoughts and ideas and give the due credit to everyone, they deserve it!!
