The Incredible Hulk Movie Review
This is Curry Bear’s incredible review of The Incredible Hulk. It seems like Summer 2008 is the summer of superheroes. First we had Iron Man, now The Incredible Hulk and next month The Dark Knight awaits. Let me start by saying that The Incredible Hulk is much better than Ang Lee’s Hulk. Edward Norton is also a better Hulk than Eric Bana. This is a Hulk movie that was done right.
The movie starts with Bruce Banner working in a bottling plant in Brazil and keeping himself hidden from the U.S. Government. He is still trying to find a cure but has no luck. An accident at the bottling plant helps the government track down Bruce Banner. He escapes from there and eventually finds his way back to the U.S. Gen. Ross (played by the awesome William Hurt) is the one tracking down Hulk and introduces a new villiain in this movie played by Tim Roth. Roth, a soldier named Emil Blonsky, hates Hulk so much that he is willing to inject himself with the crazy, psycho, radiation blood that came from the Hulk. Now in order to stop Blonsky’s crazy antics, the Hulk must be called upon for help.
The great thing about The Incredible Hulk is that the movie never really slows down. I never felt like there were times that the movie was being dragged. Edward Norton’s a good actor and he played Bruce Banner very well. However, Liv Tyler sucks as his girlfriend. Her role basically consisted of crying while the Hulk gets his ass kicked. She was there to show everyone that even though the Hulk is an angry mofo, he has a soft spot. Tim Roth is a good villain and his character is basically a competitive psycho who will do anything to get to the top.
Unlike other superhero movies that I’ve seen recently, with The Incredible Hulk the CGI is very noticeable. Although the Hulk in this movie looks more realistic than the previous one, you still know that the fight scenes are CGI. They’ve improved things quite a lot in the special effects department, but something still reminds you that it’s CGI. Perhaps by the time they make a 3rd Hulk they’ll make CGI so realistic that you’ll see the tiny hair on Hulk’s body.
Should you see The Incredible Hulk? Yes, absolutely. This is not a movie to be missed if you’ve seen every superhero movie made. However, if you’re not a fan of superhero movies (for example, say you’re a girl), then you could wait till it comes out on DVD. Just remember kids, after watching The Incredible Hulk, don’t go around smashing people’s items while screaming “Hulk smaaaaaasshhh!” Things like that will not hold up well in The People’s Court.
P.S: There is no need to stay till the very end of the movie when the credits are done rolling. But you will see a “special appearance” right before the credits start to roll.
