Charles Logan is to Mike Huckabee as David Palmer is to Barack Obama

Yes – I made the title of this article an analogy because Indians are so good at SATs. One of Curry Bear’s readers sent him this picture of Charles Logan (President from 24) and Mike Huckabee; and I must say the resemblance is uncanny. I did not realize how similar they looked until I saw this picture. Not only are they similar in physical appearance, but they are also very similar in personality.

Charles Logan Mike Huckabee

They were both republicans.
They are both politically religious.
They are both soft on criminals
They both are for unilateral war.
They are strong supporters of the patriot act.

Now another similarity out there is the similarity between Barack Obama and President Palmer (the black & awesome President from 24). Now this is not just something that I noticed. Dennis Haysbert, the actor that played President Palmer, himself thinks he is one of the reasons Barack Obama is so popular.

“As far as the public is concerned, it did open up their minds and their hearts a little bit to the notion that if the right man came along — I do believe Barack Obama is the right man — that a black man could be president of the United States,” Haysbert says in the January 21 issue of TV Guide (on newsstands January 17).

Is it really arrogant of Haysbert for taking credit for Obama’s success? I would say it is, except for the fact it is kind of true. I do believe that the reason Obama is so popular is because he has a lot of the good qualities that President Palmer portrayed on “24”.

President Palmer Vs Barack ObamaBarack Obama

They are both Black. (well duh)
They are both Democrats.
They are both very charismatic.
They are both very well-spoken and articulate.
They seem to have same morals.

Any hardcore 24 fan will tell you that his depiction as President Palmer is actually the best President this country has ever seen. Even people in other countries see him as a great President. Who knows, maybe other countries might even start to like us. I feel that a President does represent the country. If our president is a crazy religious war monger, then that’s how others view the people of the country. After all we did elect him not just to run the country, but to represent us.

“People on the street would ask me to run for office,” says Haysbert, who was greeted with “Mr. President” by secret service agents, pages and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-California) during a visit to Washington. “I’d get that reaction around the world when I went to promote the show.”

I think that there is some truth to what Haysbert is saying. I think people are more influenced by TV then they think. I can understand why Muslims get upset at being portrayed as terrorist all the time. I suppose that can be very annoying. Well the moral of this article is that if Obama wins, I am switching my car insurance to Allstate.
